Majors at OWU

There are many majors at OWU to choose from. At Ohio Wesleyan University, the faculty and staff are dedicated to providing interdisciplinary education in liberal arts. They encourage students to think critically and creatively, express themselves well and respond to the demands of the changing world around them. No matter which major you choose, rest assured that you will work hard and gain a first class education.

Bachelor's Degree programs

At OWU, earn either a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Music degree. There are a total of 93 majors to choose from and these span 31 academic departments. Students who are interested in several fields often double major. Some even pick up three majors, just to expand the breadth of their education. If you are interested in something unique, talk to your advisor about designing your own major.

Declaring a major

At OWU, faculty expect students to explore several fields before settling on a definite major. Many students begin their freshman year determined to excel in one major, but later find that they want to study something else. For this reason, students are not expected to declare a major until their junior year of college. They are recommended to use the first two years of school to gain a broad knowledge of several fields.

Choosing a major is never an easy decision. However, at OWU, the faculty and staff are ready and able to guide that decision. The sky is the limit, so pick something that interests and motivates you.
